Lean Process Improvement - Course Overview

Over the course of 300 years, Lean principles have evolved, starting from Benjamin Franklin's early concepts, progressing through Henry Ford's efforts in the 1920s and the Toyoda precepts in the 1930s, to the publication of Jeffery Liker's "The Toyota Way" in 2004.

 

This two-day course provides participants with the groundwork to initiate the application of Lean process improvement tools in their workplace.

What will students learn?

Students will learn the following from this Lean Process Improvement course:

  • Define Lean and its key terms

  • Describe the Toyota Production System and the TPS house

  • Describe the five critical improvement concepts

  • Use the Kano model

  • Identify and reduce various types of waste

  • Create a plan for a more environmentally Lean organization

  • Use the PDSA and R-DMAIC-S models

  • Use Lean thinking frameworks, including 5W-2H, Genchi Genbutsu and Gemba

  • Prepare for and complete a basic 5-S

  • Describe the key elements of Kaizen events, particularly a Kaizen blitz

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data using flow charts, Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams, SIPOC diagrams, and value stream maps

  • Go back to their organization with a plan to begin incorporating Lean into their corporate culture

Lean Process Improvement Training Course Format

This Lean Process Improvement training is a practical workshop where delegates get to apply what they learned immediately in the classroom. This course may employ any or all of the following interactive techniques: self-assessments, individual and group activities and group discussions.

Certificate Awarded

At the completion of this Lean Process Improvement training program, attendees will each be awarded a PMI Endorsed Certificate worth 14 Professional Development Units (PDU’s), as well as an IIBA endorsed certificate for 14 Continuing Development Units (CDU’s).

These PDU’s and CDU’s can be used to maintain your PMI and IIBA earned credentials.
